The Modern Languages faculty normally requires two pieces of work: one piece in English and piece in the language chosen for study (unless you are applying for a beginners' course, in which case this second piece is not required). The Philosophy faculty does not require any written work from applicants, but may view the Modern Languages English piece. This does not mean that it needs to be on a philosophical topic, but should display a capacity for argument and clear thinking.
